OK, I spent $300 on the Amtrak USA Rail Pass. 10 trips in 30 days. I'll use them in late April or early May.

I'm not going to take 30 days off work, at most a week and a half. I could use up the trips I don't use on a big trip on a weekend away or a day trip to the city.

But how should I use my rail pass? I'm beginning in upstate NY. I could go south to DC, maybe down to someplace in NC. I could go west to Chicago or Milwaukee or St Paul or something. Where should I go by rail this spring?

Arrive MPLS on 4/12, depart CHI on 4/19.

The only for absolute certain baseball game is Twins on 4/13. The rest I could pick from a couple options as I recall.

What cities and towns do we absolutely have to see in Spain?

Funny thing is I'm leaning to just do Spain at this point as I want to spend some time in Mallorca. But early days so let's see.

I'm a big drive guy so am interested in driving the Northern Alps and there seems to be some epic drives to do in Mallorca itself too.

But fuck. Now I've just started checking out Portugal videos.

Might need an extra week off...

Portugal is one of my favs places in Europe. Lisbon is gorgeous, full of things to do and fucking eat. Make sure you taste all the kinds of pasteles de nata as you can.

The Belem tower is a must, go to the castles in Sintra too. And see if you can spend time in Cascais too, beautiful place.

Spain? yeah Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona are also musts.

Himself is in the phillipines for a month. Sending me videos of swimming with whale sharks and giant turtles. Now he’s on some week long Island hopping tour and it looks beautiful. Same time some of the people live on the islands live really basically. Female Pigs chained up and being used for piglets aka dinner.
Looks like a beautiful place though.
