Re: Zelda Games
I can’t see myself going back or forward to play any Zelda games if they aren’t designed and look like BOTW and TOTK.
I’m not even gonna try echoes.
And dreading the next game as the main guy responsible for Zelda said they’ll be leaving that there and the next game will be totally different.
Bad news man. Bad news.

You are missing out on a lot of good games. Nintendo does this with it's big names. Look at all the types of Mario and Donkey Kong games.

Yeah I know. Stupid of me given link to the past was my first and on from there.
The o my ones I haven’t played are the DS ones and echoes.
And the hyrule warriors fight games. Of which there seem to be loads.
Not my thing.
Haven’t ever played Mario or DK on switch. I’ll get round to them.

Probably recency bias, but Odyssey is my favorite Mario game. I absolutely loved it.dimejinky99 wrote:E.H. Ruddock wrote:You are missing out on a lot of good games. Nintendo does this with it's big names. Look at all the types of Mario and Donkey Kong games.

Yup. Wonder is the sidescroller. Fun as well, but Odyssey is great!dimejinky99 wrote:daft twat wrote:Probably recency bias, but Odyssey is my favorite Mario game. I don’t know how I hadn’t found it before but I’d found all the yiga clothes bit by bit. And it got me into their hideout. It’s so fun in there! I hated that whole element of the game in BOTW but it’s super fun in TOTK.

I’ll definitely be getting it. Thank you.
If I ever finish playing Tears. Keep coming back to it. No interest in finishing it.

I'm thinking about doing a BotW replay. I've done most things in TotK aside from koroks, and I kind of miss sneaking around trying to avoid Guardians. Will be interesting though since I'm now used to the TotK special abilities and also the fuse function which was great.

I'd wait until the rumored Switch 2 remaster/upgrade.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I'm thinking about doing a BotW replay. Are you just a straight Nintendo guy? Save a minor blip 20 years ago where I got an Xbox and played GTA Vice City and Hitman 2, I’ve been Nintendo exclusively. Breath and Tears are my favorite games of all time. Part of my retirement plan in 15 years is to revisit them.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I'm thinking about doing a BotW replay. I really think you should do what I’m doing and get a PS4 and play some of the marquee titles.
Last of Us 1 and 2 are incredible. Everyone who has ever picked up a controller should play them.
Red Dead 2 was too spread out for me, but I could see how someone could fall in love with it like TotK and want to explore every nook and cranny.
I’m a little over 1/3 through God of War right now. I die constantly, but it’s been really fun to explore, and I think this would be the one I’d recommend coming off of Zelda. It’s definitely more complex, but I killed a dragon in a boss fight today, and it felt like Zelda. Also, Jeremy Davies (Dickie Bennet from Justified) is a voice actor in it.

I’d give it a little bit more time. But I would say breath is a far more relaxing play after tears. Which I’m in the middle of, but again just find it too intense and overwhelming and hectic. But worth it too.
I miss the quiet desolation of breath, which it is by comparison to tears

Started a replay of BotW last weekend. I love the simplicity of it compared to TotK, especially with the weapons. I will say though, I'm still pushing "A" when gliding, hoping Tulin's wind will give me a boost! That is the only thing I think I miss from Totk.

It’s a lot more relaxed isn’t it?
I think the shrines being far more difficult in Breath overall make up for that though.
Some of them are flat out evil

Re: Zelda Games
My wife said she always knows if I'm upstairs in my office playing BotW or TotK. She can never hear any sounds from the TV, except one that is "annoying". I finally realized it is the sheikah slate shrine sensor notification. I've always thought it was the one sound in these games I don't care for.

I don’t use the sensor or compendium at all. It’s a whole huge element of both games I couldn’t get into and that annoying beep going off constantly is exactly why.
Even the shrine sensor I turn it off. Annoying beep is very annoying.

I still haven’t played this, Phantom Hourglass, or Spirit Tracks. Right now I’m catching up on some of the best games of the past 15 years, but one day I would like to dive into the handheld and 16 bit games I never really got into.jackoman wrote:Minish Cap is actually worth checking out, especially if you're into the classic 2D Zelda vibe. I didn’t play it back when it launched, but I picked it up on the 3DS Virtual Console and ended up really liking its pace and the shrinking mechanic. It’s one of the more overlooked titles but still feels like classic Zelda with some fun, unique stuff.
