Most likely meaningless!

I never heard anything about being 'the guy' again, except for angry posts on here and elsewhere. It seems odd that the dude who at one point asked the band to bring in more complete ideas would abandon that ethos. Especially when as a band they seem (SEEM) a little lazy or less willing to put in time without huge breaks.

I don't know how it's really arguable with Backspacer, but okay.

Just because he's 'the guy' doesn't mean he's making every single decision about the band; it wasn't like that even with those earlier albums. I think Ed's analogy of him having both hands on the wheel while everyone else has one is pretty apt.

That analogy does sound apt. I am very uninformed for the last couple of records, save for the posts I mentioned. Which now make more sense
