Two boiled egg whites, one slice whole multigrain toast, blueberries. This is the heaviest breakfast I’ve had in weeks.

There are more food threads in this forum than there are pearl jam threads.
Not complaining. Just an observation.

my man!
I’ve not made them in batches yet, but I can see how convenient it would be.
Have you ever tried making them with steel cut oats?
I’ve done it twice now, and it’s not bad, but brings on quite a lot of gas. All the recipes I’ve found say to let them set for 48 hours. The longest I’ve let them then set is about 12.

i do a lot of regular oatmeal with steel cut, but never tried overnight. do you cook them first then do the regular overnight process?
i love making them in batches. so easy. i'll do like 3-4 at a time. works best if you are using a fruit with a skin, like blueberries or even blackberries. if you do raspberries, sliced strawberries or bananas or something, i just add those before eating, otherwise they can get soggy

A couple of recipes I’ve seen suggest cooking the steel cut, and then preparing them as you would overnight oats. I just haven’t tried it.
I have made cooked steel cut a few times recently, and they’re slightly savory. I cut up three medjool dates, and toss them in during the last 10 min of cooking. When they’re done, I add a splash of maple syrup, a very light drizzle of olive oil, and sprinkle on some maldon salt. It works.
