There are many ways to raise a child even within a specific ideology. You can only know which is the most effective for each child by use of psychic powers.

I'm not a psychiatrist, but I took enough psychology courses to know that screening prior to lobotomies was not as thorough as surgical consults today.
It appears as though the medical community considers a mastectomy reversible through reconstruction and teenagers to have decisional capacity, and you do not.
being trans is not a "mental issue" Bi_3
No, but Gender Dysphoria is. The person B and I were discussing from schoolboys lawsuit tweet… self-id at 11, blockers/hormones/surgery over the next two years, detransition at 17. Was this person trans or suffering from Gender Dysphoria? I assume it’s the latter

In what state are you licensed to diagnose mental disorders?

I’m mildly fascinated by how this website revolves around the latest knock down, drag out fight.
First it was whoever the two people were fighting about tarot cards.
Then it became spike vs verb in the coronavirus thread.
Now that Covid is over we need something else shiny and new so here comes Harmless vs. Tree.
I wonder what will be the next great issue of our day.

I have not said otherwise. But the person from the lawsuit…. Trans or no?

I do, however, have enough info to diagnose several RMers.

If the person in question detransitoned and is now suing the provider for pressuring them into it, does that provide any clues? Or maybe… how would anyone ever know the difference between an 11 year old with GD or an 11 year old trans kid?

Sure it provides clues, but you and I don't know this kid, have never met this kid, and are not current in our training and certification to determine whether a person suffers from a mental illness even if we had.
How would anyone know the difference? Medical school, social work school, and/or psychology school. All those professions are qualified to assess patients and diagnose mental illness. A surgeon who provides gender affirming surgery, especially on a child, without someone having done such an assessment, probably should end up in court.

It is astonishing to log back into this website eight months later and see Mrs. Harmless still arguing with the same boobs as before. Eternal return.

If all those professions are qualified, why did no one stop this kid during their five years in the system? If this kid went through five years of Kaiser's system and they still got it wrong, what does that tell you?
You are not betraying trans people or supporting Trump by recognizing that the medical transition of children is too risky, error prone, and the long term effects are not well understood enough to be legal and that it should be delayed until those who id as trans are 18 in favor of expanded counseling and social support (i.e. "watchful waiting"), like is done in
other developed democracies where this has been examined.

Self ID being the only criteria for the apparently spiritually based status of being trans is having interesting outcomes in the California prison system.
The crime that caused an individual to be incarcerated cannot be considered to prevent them from being transferred to a women's prison. So, say rapists or those that murdered their female partner can be transferred.
There are far fewer female prisons, and I don't know if someone in Pelican Bay could easily transfer, but there's clearly an incentive to transfer to a place without a SHU system and you can request the form to register your gender identity/ transfer whenever.
The women's prisons have less segregation by security level, so it's pretty much an automatic upgrade for anyone doing serious time.
I'm guessing they're gonna start giving female inmates long term birth control to try to keep this quieter.
