Was it actually blonde in color? Never seen that. Sounds interesting
Yes. Somewhere between a pale ale and an amber.
Stone's Master of Disguise was pretty good from what I remember.

You're the second person who has mention that. I generally think Stone is a little overrated, but I may have to grab that one.

If you can find it, Stochasticity brews are limited releases but I did enjoy it, mind-fuck that it was.

With the wave of breweries that fall in and out of the hype-o-sphere, I tend not to say an entire brewery is overrated. One thing Stone has been is solid, for me they are number two behind Sierra Nevada in a big brewer making absolutely quality product consistently. They take bigger risks than SN but they almost always score highly. Sure smaller guys may knock a brew out of the goddamn park (I live in the Northeast, which is all the rage for the current movement of IPAs away from the west coast style) but I also don't want to drive two hours to stand in line for two hours all for getting a limited amount and a 2oz taster.

Very curious about Blonde Stouts.

However, I would think they should be different and not a "disguise", meaning, I think they ought to taste different from brown/black stouts.

The latter, I expect the chocolate / coffee / nutty / roasted thing going on.

For Blonde Stouts, I would want more of a vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, (maybe walnut) type of flavors. A bourbon blonde stout could be really good.

If this is a real thing, I want it.

I've been driving for Lyft/Uber and sold some of the Smuttynose Rhye I had bought for myself to some people out of my trunk last night. I felt like a bootlegger. :haha:

I don't think I've had the nelson since they took over..whats the difference? The alpine duet is still just as good

most of the stuff you get from alpine in California is still brewed by alpine. the alpine stuff sent east is typically brewed by green flash. the nelson is overly bitter.

Bear Republic just announced they were pulling their AZ distribution, so I went out and bought 3 6-packs of Racer 5.

That was a very smart move. I don't see CT distro in BR's future anytime soon though :(

EDIT: Just read through the article in Beer Advocate, sucks they had to pull-out of markets but I'd say they'll be a better organization when all is said and done.
