True story: this week I'm trying to get my students to grasp the idea of judging cultural productions by their own personal set of criteria, and it's failing miserably.

jj abrams' TED talk about "the magic box" aspect of storytelling was one of the most infuriating experiences i've ever had while watching a TED talk or just a talk so referential of boxes
