Trump's real failure was that he didn't abolish the FDA and NIOSH on day 1 of the pandemic. I'm sure he didn't have the authority to do so, but he probably could have had laboratories, mask, and drug manufacturers with US Marshalls on site to arrest any dickless bureacrat that tried to intervene in their operations. Twist the arm of federal prosecutors and judges to demand some fantastical bond, and problem solved.

Unless there is audio of trump saying he knew how deadly the virus would be it doesn't matter. It probably doesn't matter either way.

Senior Homeland Security Dept officials tried to downplay and manipulate real-time threat information about violent white supremacists in order to aid Pres. Trump politically, according to a formal whistleblower complaint.
The complaint was filed by Brian Murphy, who led the department's intelligence branch. It details times when the highest ranking officials within DHS—including acting DHS Sec. Chad Wolf, acting Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Ken Cuccinelli, and former DHS Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen—tried to change or alter intelligence information to seemingly align better with Pres. Trump’s rhetoric.
Murphy describes receiving an order from Cuccinelli to ‘modify [a] section on White Supremacy in a manner that made the threat appear less severe’ while also adding further information on ‘violent “left-wing” groups.’ Murphy declined to make the changes. The House Intelligence Committee has called on Murphy to testify under oath about the complaint, as Chair Adam Schiff said in a statement that this information puts ‘our nation and its security at grave risk.’
