The confusing part is that the governing structures are all pretty much aligned with these sorts of DAs but they haven't figured out diversion programs that do anything to reduce recidivism. As far as I can tell he inherited whatever the diversion program is from his predecessor.
You have to offer an alternative to prison that improves both the would be prisoner and society.
You will suffer random acts of violence until we can totally reinvent civilization is perhaps a bipartisan (extreme) position.

Say what you will, those guys sacrificed personal grievances to forward the mission of the larger organization. Get a couple of them working at the Trevor Project, and we could probably end LGBT+ suicide.

Yes. The tweet made no sense without it. It's a particularly shitty tweet in that regard.
Several progressive organizations have hired liberal people who get pissed because the business practices of the organizations are shitty. It's a problem that plagues all progressive organizations, no conservative organization, and has nothing to do with individual, shitty managers.
