I heard someone make this suggestion yesterday and I think I agree with it: if the losing team is still trying to score runs, the winning team should be doing the same.

It's funny, though. Boston was upset with the Rays for running in a five run game. The game before that, Boston blew a five run lead. The game after, Boston came back from a five run deficit.

How sad is it that this is the latest in the season the Jays have held the division lead in 14 years? This team looks all kinds of awesome right now.

I like the Braves and all, but 392 million dollars in public funds..... hell ONE dollar in public funds is too many.

Classically the Cobb Police escorted all the dissenting opinions out of the hearing and the commissioners voted away all that money without a second thought 5-0.

10 years from now, when the restaurant turnover is large, and they are struggling to get people to come to the area on one of the 284 non game days of the year, and when the traffic is fucking brutal maybe they will lose their jobs.

Agreed. Just play the game. It's not Little League.

Also, regarding the Boston baseball media...not all are bad. A few will call out the players and team. I think that most baseball beat writers in other cities suck up to the home team, too.

I obviously don't live in Boston, so I probably only notice the really stupid stories that kind of piss me off.

I normally find that the Toronto media is just the opposite: they love shitting on everything Toronto teams do. Now that I think about it, I'm sure Boston was the same way when the Bruins and Red Sox hadn't won anything in forever. This offseason was brutal hearing how horrible the Jays were going to be and how Anthopoulos should be fired for not improving the team.

The boston media only calls out players when they have been sanctioned to by the Red Sox brass. You couldn't find someone who travelled with the team who would say a bad word about Beckett until the moment he left.

One of my favorite examples of how in the tank they are for the FO is when Gonzalez called that meeting where they tried to get valentine canned. The team fed the story that shoppach used Gonzalez phone to call the meeting. Shoppach, convienently, had just been traded. Then Gonzalez admitted to calling it after he got traded.

Listen to the people who don't travel with the team.

Does anyone else think it's odd that valentine is the one guy they didn't throw under the bus on the way out of town? Or that valentine has never really had anything to say about his time here? It's pretty obvious to me that him and Lucchino had some kind of arrangement.

That wouldn't be much of a surprise. I think the expectation all along was that Valentine was only there for a year or two while they waited for Farrell.

I think it was reported in the press at the time Valentine was let go that there was an agreement between the two parties that both would shut up

I'm still heated over how they did Francona when he left.

If there was one guy in the 12 years that they've owned the team that didn't deserve that, it was him.

Floating out that stuff about drug use, family problems...that was nasty stuff. Uncalled for.

It would have been uncalled for if the guy was a total douche, let alone someone like Francona.
