This is what it's come to. Plants expanding, ancient gear being repaired at high cost, 24/7 machinists on hand at multiple new plants getting off the ground.....all to repress the same Allan Sherman, Mantovani and Taylor Dayne records that languish in picked over Goodwills.

Seriously though, if you're in a touring band that depends on having LPs and singles pressed on hand as a means of income and you can't get your product in time because of some bullshit like this? It infuriates me. We all get to wait while the major labels repress $1 bin stuff.

I can't wait for this fucking bubble to burst. I'd try to think of a way to blame Jack White, but I'm too hungover.

In other words, your little hobby has gotten more expensive and overall more difficult because it's more popular. If that's what people want, why shouldn't they make it?

That's what I find baffling, the people who supposedly want these records? They're easy to find. You can get the Top Gun sdk on discogs for 5 bucks! Fans and artists pay the price while hobbists are fucking up the game.

Pressing a Jack White record in a day is a wonderful photo op and I wouldn't begrudge them the business. However, when someone far less famous is looking at the one year anniversary of asking for their record to be repressed, that's kinda rubbing it in.

Because most people dont want to spend the time looking for them. They don't know how, or want to, look for things on discogs.

They don't want to go into the used record store and feel like they have to defend their purchase or pretend it's ironic. They have the money to buy something they want NEW. If there was enough demand for these smaller artists, or vinyl in general, then they'd build more pressing facilities.

Sure, IF i was an artist it would frustrate me, but in reality, a small artists album being available on vinyl is aiming at such a small portion of the market, I can't be mad.

and ultimately, it may suck in the short term for serious collectors like yourself, but if it proves to be sustainable, then long term things WILL be more readily available across the board.

I'm not a collector. I'm a fan. I don't buy stuff to flip. I'll only really sell if I don't really want the record anymore and it sucks. I buy doubles to trade with friends. But that's not the point.

Yep. This is exactly the elitist attitude that makes people who think "hey, records are kinda neat" want to avoid used record stores. Any differing opinion or questionable purchase may result in mocking, judgmental comments and just overall douchbaggery.

And just because, when I was buying records somewhat regularly, I took great pride in the fact that EVERYTHING i bought was from an independent record store. I had to find it in order to own it. This includes Binaural and Live on Two Legs. And my Zep BBC sessions. Only exceptions I ever made were getting Avocado and Live on Ten Legs from the 10 club, and Temptations Christmas Card off ebay because I couldn't find it for two years.

I don't buy for one minute, people who are too scared to go into record stores and buy what they want cause they don't want to defend their purchase. The fuck is that all about? If you're afraid to justify you're purchase, you've got some issues.
These dollar bin reissues make as much sense to be as those vinyl subscription clubs. If you're too lazy to go out and look for what you want, and just want to "buy it now" you should probably just get into coin collecting or other worthless timesink.
