To me it sounds like a fiddle and slide guitar playing together. Also, the song title is "Boning So High"

isn't Ed contributing to some upcoming soundtrack or charity album? could be that as well. if it's Ed. Although, I don't know why they would be listening to that. Seems more likely Jeff is playing some new tunes to show his buddies.
