was more a comment on Josh Evans' album work making the songs sound good, but perhaps too good, because the band can't do them that way live
oh gotcha
but i also don't want to hear them live

only the first 4 are canon

the rest are irrelevant
Agree but I like seven oclock too

ah right this one is the Bruce copy song

if I were a gay cowboy (just give me enough drinks and we'll find out) I would be down with this song

But at this point I don't care one bit about new studio stuff translating well to a live setting. The days of the epic 3+ hours shows are mostly, if not entirely, gone. Ed's voice can't do what it used to do, and those shortcomings are most apparent at a show.

Gigaton is a studio-based treasure, and if they can somehow crank out another one of similar quality, I would take it in a heartbeat even if exactly zero of the songs held up on stage.
This is 100% where i'm at as well.

Comes Then Goes is one of their best songs of the past 20 years.

Concur

Controversial opinion, I feel it would have been the better closer on Gigaton

It's grown on me massively but I still think that where it sits in the tracklisting doesn't do it any favours. It either loses a verse/chorus and stays where it is or - as you say - keeps in its original length and is the album closer. As it is it brings the album to a screeching halt when there are two songs still to go.

Yep. Probably have to go back to Riot Act to find something that compares to it lyrically.

Also a fun and easy song to play on guitar but has that annoyingly tricky bridge sequence.

Yeah lyrically very strong, and some jabs at VC in there that are just about vague enough so that there can be plausible deniabiity.
