I'm in this camp as well. I probably don't hate Future Days as much as a lot of you, but the gloss and the piano really kill it for me -- easy skip since it's at the end of the record.
As for River Cross -- I don't see how anybody could love Indifference and despise this one. In fact, I prefer RC.
Ditto. Future Days is the only true closer from the band ive ever disliked. Greatly prefer River Cross.

With time i really came around to this one. Dont think i'd go a full 5 stars but i really do enjoy it within the context of the album.

I'd say I really don't understand the divide on this song. It's just so fucking great. But nothing shocks me anymore

I can't quite describe the grammatical structure, but it does feel like we are equally fucked, love notwithstanding is more natural. But as I type that maybe that's not right either and I should withdraw my comment

I like River Cross. Really good closer, especially on Gigaton given what the album represents. But y’all saying it’s better than Indifference are wildin’

I listened to this today, and it reminded me of Covid lockdowns - I'd be listening to this while lining up outside the Supermarket when they'd only allow so many people in at one time

I haven’t picked it up in a while, but even thinking back, it evokes that feeling of being trapped and looking for a way out. The covid lockdowns and this album somehow still feel connected, as if without knowing it when they recorded the album, that feeling of being stuck and looking for a way out really resonated, even if they were maybe leaning into the political moment more than the societal moment we were entering when the album was released.

the environmental message of feeling trapped and lost and holding into hope despite it all mapped well onto the early covid experience is

I didn't have the chance to see Pearl Jam tour Gigaton, but I always thought I wouldn't want to hear these songs at a show.
Too painful. Maybe it'd be cathartic but I never thought I really needed that.
Gigaton is completely intertwined with covid lockdowns for me, and early pandemic days and lockdown were part of a big turning point in my life.
I can't imagine an album possibly being timed better. It spoke in real time to the events unfolding that didn't even exist before its recording and boy did Ed go all in on verbosity.
I like listening to albums all the way through on vinyl and when I put the Gigaton lp on for the first time a couple months ago I was happy I could enjoy it all the way through without making me sad.

I had similar experiences.

I got a pair of Airpods Pro and listened to the Atmos version of this last night. Definitely heard some cool details I'd never quite picked up before.

It made me a bit sad about those canceled in-theater Atmos Gigaton listens, although I guess I doubt details would have been as noticeable there as they are with speakers in your ears.

All of Pearl Jam's albums should sound like Riot Act

This album really grew on me. I wasn’t a big fan at first but I love it now.

yeah it was really surprising to listen a lot of the lyrics describe what was happening in the world
Kudos to Ed really.
