I actually agree with this. So long as no combination of the president, first lady, or vp ends up bedridden, or maybe at worst someone gets a little sick, this’ll mean nothing much at all to the election. But the scope of what is and isn’t possible enough to be worth speculating on has, for the time being, changed.
(Actually, I think the dumbest timeline version would be that he gets flu-level sick for a few weeks and doesn’t want to look weak, so they hole him up in the White House, get evasive about the details of his recovery, and America becomes a three week exercise in “the President is secretly dead / saving the world” conspiracy theories on both sides.)
