I reckon that’s going somewhere. Everyone said the space whales were filler in rebels. And it ended up being a vital point in the story.
This wasn’t a Throwaway episode.
Damned if I can can guess where it’s going though.
Fun all the same. Except the spiders. Nobody needs that.

The creature effects have been really great so far this season.

Have we seen giant spiders before? Aren’t they a sentient species in clone wars or something?

Did... did we just find our Star Wars common ground?

You’ll *never* guess where the art and inspiration from the spiders came from

It was good, i enjoyed it and it looked super awesome. I also liked the fact that the story is moving, it wasnt just The Mando has a new job and saves the day.
Also fucking Baby Yoda is an asshole.

Exactly. He’s on this quest and each episode is what happens while he’s on this quest. Each thing isn’t a direct thread of his main goal.

I dont now. It felt like a filler episode. LIke one of those classic Walking Dead episodes that could have been condensed into a 15 minute episode instead of being dragged out.
I love this show and it looks great, i love the action, i love damn near everything about it but that one just felt like wasted time or just a way for us to get to revisit some X-Wings.

It's fascinating how differently we see this show. This episode felt like an "excuse to revisit X-Wings" to you but the majority of this series doesn't feel like an excuse to revisit ____ . I'm the exact opposite.
I thought this was a great episode. Character based. Good conflict. Expanded the universe a bit. We met new creatures/characters. There wasn't any of that sandbox nostalgia reliance that can really cripple this thing for me. Excellent pacing. Good tension/mood. Great FVX (which isn't always the case with this show). I felt connected to the people in a way that made the mission vital for me. It felt less like a video game side mission than usual.
To each their own, obviously. And I'll love you forever now matter what. Maybe that's a strength of the show, really. Something for everyone. Never a bad thing especially when it doesn't feel particularly pandering to the widest audience. It just happens to appeal to many Star Wars fans on different levels for different reasons.

X-Wings are just there. It's like complaining that there are Stormtroopers, or droids, or water evaporators on Tatooine. Those are the building blocks of Star Wars.
I knew this was a complex episode b/c of the number of questions from my 8yr.
Why didn't those guys help him get off the planet?
Because he is a criminal.
Mando can't be bad. He's helping Baby Yoda.
But he commits crimes.
Then why didn't they arrest him? Why did they help him shoot the spiders?
Well, he sometimes does good things, and he did a good thing for someone they know.
And let's not even start on whether Baby Yoda is good or bad b/c he's eating that woman's babies for the whole episode.
There's a huge amount of explanation in this show about the current politics, and you don't even know it's happening b/c we don't have Lucas directing and making us sit through Senatorial filibusters.
