Some time in the Obama administration, democrats decided that they had enough power to defeat the competition by what is essentially silent treatment. They thought that by refusing to platform or engage with other groups, those groups' political power would wither away due to lack of attention. Instead it has led the DNC itself into a spiralling circle jerk of increasingly out of touch nobodies.

After Trump exposed that they didn't have the power they thought they had, they went into overtime trying to make it real and doubling down, but their blue wave could only accomplish a weak majority and a president no democrat actually likes.

I feel like there has to be a break from this strategy soon, but we'll have to wait for Pelosi and Biden and the other vampires to finally die off. Corporate America's reliance on wokeness will probably have to crack a bit, too. I see some signs of that, but it will take awhile.

The first paragraph of that post is great evidence for why Burt is such a puzzling case, an utterly deranged reactionary who takes very accurate readings of American political culture.

The Obama Dems tried to do End of History 2 and we're still living in the aftermath of that.

It's a marketplace of ideas, right? Unless it's a public institution and anodyne tweets are proof of bias for the title IX administrators or whoever. Clearly cancel culture is made up bullshit and not simultaneously the excesses of the administrative state and public culture.
