Wow, great question -- You just introduced me to a new culinary concept, Chud.

I did some reading, and I'm only *guessing* it was a grey corned beef with added beet powder. I know it was organic brisket from Costco, and it definitely had the sweetness and tenderness of my mom's grey corned beef. But I see that some producers, including Whole Foods, make a grey corned beef and then add beet powder for color. And my neighbor definitely added some juniper, and probably some other aromatics.
Gray is the best.

never had or want a mcrib...the steak was wonderful as was the baked potato with loads of sour cream
