Not sure sure how to react either... I love it though.

Chris Sale pitches 7 beautiful shutout innings, giving up one hit, only to get bombed for five (four earned) in the eighth. Brutal end to the 1 earned run in 25 innings stretch he had after his return from the DL.

Perhaps Robin needs to reconsider letting him throw 115 pitches in an outing just yet.

I've been watching this inning on MLB Network. Trout crushed that thing.

Trout is an absolutely ridiculous human being.

I was surprised Robin sent him out there for eighth to be honest though.

Yeah that was a mistake.

He's not a very good manager.

He really isn't, everytime I see one of their games he's doing something moronic.

I have far less of a problem with sending a starter out for one more inning only to getting bombed.
than taking a starter who was cruising out for a relief pitcher to come in and get bombed.

Yeah, but he left him in long enough to give up five runs. After he gave up the double and then the single to score the first run he should have taken him out. Or after the error that loaded the bases for Mike Trout. There's no way he should be facing Mike Trout with the bases loaded in that situation. He was already well over 100 pitches and had given up twice as many hits that inning as he had all game.

Robin is pretty terrible. I still believe the Sox only hired him because they knew they were tearing it all down and wanted to put a fan favorite in the dugout to buy themselves some goodwill.

Oh he definitely left him in too long, I just dont have a problem with sending him back out. Theres WAY to many managers in love with the "i got a 7th inning guy, its the 7th, lets make a move"

I was a big fan of Manny Machado last year, but man did that "swing" look rather, bu$hleaguer

speaking of stupid rules in sports, a pitcher getting a complete game for pitching 5 innings... should not be a complete game

I don't see how what machado did is so much more egregious than a pitcher intentionally hitting a batter.

I saw that Felix had 15 Ks through 7 last night and thought "Damn, his pitch count must have been through the roof." Nope, turns out it was exactly 100. I'm not one to complain about pitchers being left in too long or pulled to early because as far as I'm concerned it's a lose-lose situation for the manager, but that seems odd. Felix was both completely dominant and extremely efficient and got pulled at 100 pitches. That seems to me like a situation where you let him come out to start the 8th.

I'm sure it was the right move since it worked anyway, though, and my complaint is mainly as a baseball fan who wants to see big, impressive performances.

I hadn't seen the O's-A's stuff until now, but that was hilarious. Turns out Machado is a bit of a nutjob. He gets tagged out on a routine play, falls over, and throws his helmet at Donaldson. Then someone throws too far inside so he launches his bat down the third base line.

There are two reactions in the whole thing that really make my day: Donaldson's "What the hell is going on here?" reaction to Machado freaking out and Machado's "What did I do?" look when he got tossed. This was entertaining stuff!
