2016? I'm not expecting there to be a season whatever year the deal is up.

2017. The TV deals expire in 2016. There will be substantially more money in play once the new TV deals are made.

The Chicago Bulls are just stockpiling as many white guys as possible.

Awesome deal for Miami. Big ups to Wade; I can't believe he took another pay cut and only two years at this point.

Absolutely nobody other than Miami. Wade opted out with 2 years/$41m left, so the prevailing thought was that Miami would "make him whole" by giving him that $41m+ and spread it out longer, IE, 4yrs/$60m. So I'm pretty shocked that he signed back here at 2 yrs/$31.125m. With the option after one year I guess he's betting (hoping) that he will have a big year next year and deserve a bigger/longer contract going forward. Either way, he did the Heat a major solid and they will have tons of cap room in 2016.

I'm wondering who won't have tons of cap room in 2016. Lots of 2 year deals being made.

Yeah, that will be the problem for Miami. I realize they weren't the only team to plan for 2010 (though I think they went all-in on that strategy harder than anybody else), but it seems like that is now the new normal for teams. But there probably won't be a 2017 season, regardless. I'm with bada on this one.

Under Silver's leadership I'm thinking there will at least be a partial season in 2017-2018. Maybe I'm just hoping. An entire winter without the league would be a slow death.

Maybe, but I'm getting the feeling the players might be willing to take a harder line this time. Maybe that's wishful thinking, I don't know. But if they are, I hope for their sake they've (they meaning player's leadership) been preparing the players for at least the last year or two so they're mentally and financially ready to miss an entire season if need be.

The players haven't even selected a new leader for the Player's Union for a year and a half.

Kind of sad Chicago can't keep/lure talent from Chicago.
