This was a bad movie filled with great scenes, I think. It never paid off any of the tension it built.

Wonder Woman 1984.

Dogshit. Awful. Combined the dumb anti-populism endemic to the superhero genre with a hamfisted anti-Trumpism. Only interesting if we view it as the psychotic rendering of the 80s from the pov of a 2020 subconscious.

yeah, you could be right. It looked cool, the cast is good and the tension is there but the ending was so mediocre at best.

Wild Mountain Thyme.

I can't imagine many here on RM would like this movie. But I loved it. It's so flawed and so close to being something I shouldn't like. But I loved it. I was moved and charmed thoroughly. Something about Irish storytelling just works on me. Also, it made me miss theatre in a bad way.

The performances are lovely. Walken stabs you in the gut without a word in one specific scene. Emily Blunt is such a treasure. Even Jon Hamm delivers in a surprising way.

It's a weird film (I'm sure the play is better). It's awkward. It's magical and emotional in only the way the Irish know how to capture. It shouldn't work but it just does. Pure story. I loved it.
