The cherry on top of 2020 will be when Drumpf tweets that “COVID-19 is God’s way of saving the planet by thinning out the human over-population problem. GENIUS!”
That's a pretty unfair characterization of what was outlined. The main component of the declaration seemed to be isolating the vulnerable populations and letting healthy people live normally from what I understood.elliseamos wrote:The White House has reportedly embraced a declaration by a group of scientists arguing for a “herd immunity” strategy to deal with America’s coronavirus pandemic—days after the validity of the declaration came under question due to a number of apparently fake names among its expert signatories, including “Dr. Johnny Bananas.” According to The New York Times, on a call convened Monday by the White House, two anonymous administration officials cited the petition, titled The Great Barrington Declaration, which argues that COVID-19 should be allowed to spread through the population. The declaration’s website claims the petition has been signed by more than 15,000 scientists, but, last week, Sky News found dozens of fake names on the list of medical signatories, including Dr. I.P. Freely, Dr. Person Fakename, and Dr. Johnny Bananas.![]()
It's doing a pretty bad job of thinning the population. There are 7 billion people on the planet. Whatever number you want to give the death count by the time this runs its course, even something silly like 78 million, will be a drop in the oceanBammer wrote:The cherry on top of 2020 will be when Drumpf tweets that “COVID-19 is God’s way of saving the planet by thinning out the human over-population problem. because those billions aren't being spent on something that will ultimately lead to the death of tens of millions of people. it's really not a relevant question.verb_to_trust wrote:If herd immunity is so stupid then why are billions being sunk into vaccine development?B wrote:Herd immunity works differently for flu than it would for COVID. We’ve all had flu at various points. Not one of us are immune to it.
What moron came up with the term?
It's a bad plan for flu b/c it will never work. It's a bad plan for COVID because it would kill 78 million people.
I, too, am failing to see how one directly relates to the other in the context of FAKE DOCTORS?!!!!Chris_H_2 wrote:because those billions aren't being spent on something that will ultimately lead to the death of tens of millions of people. it's really not a relevant question.verb_to_trust wrote:If herd immunity is so stupid then why are billions being sunk into vaccine development?B wrote:Herd immunity works differently for flu than it would for COVID. Apologies. I'm talking about natural herd immunity, letting the disease run its course. Herd immunity induced by vaccines would work against flu and COVID and save millions of lives.verb_to_trust wrote:If herd immunity is so stupid then why are billions being sunk into vaccine development?B wrote:Herd immunity works differently for flu than it would for COVID. Do you even T cell bro?liebzz wrote:Herd immunity won’t work for coronavirus because you don’t become immune to it after you get it. So far, we appear to have learned that you develop antibodies but that they don’t last long enough to avoid getting it again.

There is nothing right about implying there will be massive scale reinfections. If that were true investment in vaccines would be pointless.Rob wrote:liebzz wrote:Herd immunity won’t work for coronavirus because you don’t become immune to it after you get it. Hopefully a good vaccine comes along, but this seems the right answer to the herd immunity question so far.
Can you summarize the two Americans that have confirmed reinfection for me?verb_to_trust wrote:There is nothing right about implying there will be massive scale reinfections.
