Revis is obviously great but they actually weren't that bad without him and they have so many needs all over the team that trading him could net them a high pick or a slightly lower one and a player or two. If their offense continues to be as bad as it has been they're not winning anything no matter what the defense does.

everyone knows how desperate the jets are and with an achilles injury to boot, i thinks most teams will play hardball.

Oh good, so I'm not the only one watching it tonight. I felt pretty sad that I was looking forward to this so I could see the Broncos' staff and some of their players one last time this season.
Very impressed with how hard they're actually playing. I guess they really want that free trip to Hawaii.

yeah this is pretty fun so far-- though my great start was sarcastic in response to sliding on the kick return and double fumble on first play from scrimmage

I'm also depressed that Ed Hochuli got stuck in this game. He should be in the Super Bowl instead of Jerome Boger.
That was awesome to let Saturday take one final snap with Peyton Manning despite being on opposite sides. Too bad he couldn't block for shit on that play.

he fired off well--if peterson hadn't gotten stuck in the backfield, his block would've been plenty

Dear Bernard Pollard, The public cares a lot more about watching QB's and offensive players score than they do about watching you injure people. The same people who would turn off the NFL because there isn't enough violence are the same people who watch auto racing with hopes that they will see a crash. Those people are very small in number. People like spectacle and they love offense. Defense is going to become more technique and less physical in the open field. THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THIS! It's called tackling, and it is a lost art because of people who think they have to tackle with their shoulder pads and head. Those two things below your shoulders are called arms, square up and wrap up and stop trying to hurt people. The NFL is going to be fine.

That dispute ended before Week 4, just days after replacement officials botched the ruling on a last-second touchdown pass in a Seattle-Green Bay Monday night game, but tension remained between some officials and Anderson.
Ed Hochuli, a highly regarded and popular referee, was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated just after the lockout and did not hesitate to highlight the regular officials’ plight. Gene Steratore, another well-respected referee, worked the first game after the lockout ended and tipped his cap several times when fans cheered the officials.
“I don’t think the league was happy with those things,” Daopoulos said. “I told Ed as soon as I saw the Sports Illustrated thing, ‘Well, you’re not going to be working the Super Bowl this year.’ And you know what? Neither Hochuli or Steratore worked a game in the playoffs.”

That's so fucking lame. There's also been several articles suggesting that the league fixed the referee grading system so that they could get Jerome Boger in the Super Bowl.
I'm not as critical of Goodell as some others are but he really fucked up the refs' labor situation this year.

More recently, after Tannenbaum was let go, members of the organization had some very exploratory, informal discussions regarding former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the 2007 No. 1 overall pick who flamed out of the NFL after the 2009 season. Russell recently decided to mount a comeback in hopes of returning to the league next season.
