Stranger Things is gonna be great!
This show sounds cool. It will take very little effort for it to be better than Super 8.

But really, it looks like The X-Files and E.T. and The Goonies and Super 8 and American Gothic, all rolled up into one great big heaping pile of awesome.

Also, watch the trailer without sound and tell me whether or not you think Winona Ryder's character has a mental disability.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Those first three have such heart.
Super 8 does not.
Can't speak to AG.
Obviously, I disagree.

I'm not sure what you'd think of American Gothic. It's nothing much like the other things I listed. The X-Files is the closest. But it's bizarre.

I've been exposed to very little Gaiman, but haven't liked what I've seen. I think he's really talented, it's just not for me. My disappointment in Super 8 is documented elsewhere on RM.
:?

Gaimen (to my knowledge) had nothing to do with American Gothic. It was a Shaun Cassidy show back in the day. Short lived. Only 1 season, if memory serves. But it was broken up because of problems with the network (or something) and talks of cancellations. Maybe it lasted 2 seasons? I forget how it all shook out. Either way, it was great.

A quick Google search just told me there's a new show coming in 2016 to CBS called American Gothic. It's not at all related to the one I'm talking about.

Here's the teaser trailer for the old show (I believe it was on ABC?) from 1995:

I was gutted when they cancelled American Gothic. Earth 2 was another one around then that ended too soon. Did you watch Eerie, Indiana Joey?

NO! I always wanted to watch it, though. I've heard so many great things about it.

And, yeah, American Gothic was the first time I was every destroyed by the cancellation of a TV series. It was just about my favorite thing going at the time. I was sure The X-Files was also going to cut, too. Just because I loved it so much.

I don't remember too many specifics about it at this point but I remember that I used to like it a lot.

Both of these shows should be on Netflix. I'm sad that they aren't.

Netflix just asked me, "how often do you watch action movies like Deadpool?" I've rated a couple thousand movies on that site. They know every movie I've watched for the past decade. How is it possible that they don't already know the information to that question?

I'm one episode away from finishing Bloodline S2. While, I'd rank it below S1, it's been a great ride and another fantastic series of television. God, I fucking love Bloodline!
