oh, I thought you just meant mysteries on the show regardless of spoiler-ability. Jeor the old Bear at the end of season 1 says that the Night's Watch will ride North and finding Benjen Stark was one of his bulletpoints.Simple Torture wrote:I guess the Jon Snow stuff qualifies, since it's all-but-confirmed. The Benjen thing hasn't developed far enough yet for it to spoil-able, though.Mecca wrote:sure there is, like "who is Jon Snow's mother?" and "what happened to Benjen Stark?"Simple Torture wrote:Based on some links in the TV show thread, there are people out there posting "theories" about the TV show that are actually just spoilers. Not cool. Have there really been any other "mysteries" on this show? Or has it been more like, "Just don't tell me what happens next!" (if that difference makes any sense).

Pretty good theory here. Don't know how accurate it is but well worth a read.

Yeah I get the feeling that chud + others are going to try to talk themselves out of that theory because they don't want to believe they got spoiled.

Even in just the first two episodes, there have been a lot of subtle hints about Tywin's upcoming fate. Since Joffrey was painted as just god-awful over the first two episodes, he's sorta slipped into the background...I wonder if they're going to under-write him for the rest of the season so that the reveal of him and Shae is that much more jarring.

excited to see what happens when they kill of Balon and to see who puts the pieces together of Melisandre burning the king's blood as Stannis the mother fucking Mannis said the names of Joff, Robb and Balon.

That really stood out to me too, surprised I haven't seen it pop up here more than it has.Mecca wrote:excited to see what happens when they kill of Balon and to see who puts the pieces together of Melisandre burning the king's blood as Stannis the mother fucking Mannis said the names of Joff, Robb and Balon.
I've seen a lot of speculation about Olenna but I haven't seen anyone say anything about someone else's involvement in Joffrey's death.

Meaning no one's tied it back to Littlefinger yet? I guess there is a connection to the show (how he already asked Sansa to go away a few seasons ago, and now suddenly there's someone [Dontos] who wants to "rescue" her, too), but I think his reveal as the mastermind behind it is going to be a big reveal in just a few weeks.Biff Pocoroba wrote:That really stood out to me too, surprised I haven't seen it pop up here more than it has.Mecca wrote:excited to see what happens when they kill of Balon and to see who puts the pieces together of Melisandre burning the king's blood as Stannis the mother fucking Mannis said the names of Joff, Robb and Balon.

Whoever authored that article obviously read the books and spoiled shit for everyone, trying to pass it on as his/her own observation. What a pos.

I can see the show going that route. A lot of people will be happy that they figured out Olenna but finding out Littlefinger's role in the conspiracy will make for a dramatic surprise.Simple Torture wrote:Meaning no one's tied it back to Littlefinger yet? If I could write, I'd've written this article about changing a sex scene in the book to a rape on the show

Re: A Song Of Ice and Fire (Spoilers for all Published Books
Am I crazy? Why do I remember Danny being essentially raped in the book? The passage the AV writer quotes comes later, doesn't it? That's the firs time she consents, but that's not the first time she and Khal Drogo have sex, is it? Has the show totally rewritten my memory of the book?

Yup, definitely a case of the show rewriting your memories. I haven't watched any of it yet, but I have been reading through the novels. Dany and Drogo's sexual relations are entirely consensual from the get go. She says "no" at first, and he abides until that scene where she says "yes."

She consents on the show, too. But it's obvious she doesn't really want to. It's out of obligation. But he doesn't take her forcefully as she says no, like this past Cersei/Jaime scene.

i know they've written Belwas out of the TV series (which is a shame because he's a unique character amidst a sea of grizzled bearded white guys) but i was really hoping he'd make a brief cameo this week to take a shit in front of Meereen.

Re: A Song Of Ice and Fire (Spoilers for all Published Books
a post I just made in the show thread reminded me of something that I loved from the book that the show left out: When Jamie is reading the White Book, he notices that Selmy kept good records and even recorded his own dismissal in the book before he left King's Landing.
