I really don't, it's just that I think the whole wave of grunge > nu metal > emo revivals in the last decade is interesting.

Right now we're smack dab in the middle of emo revival gaining steam, Panic at the Disco have the #1 album in the country right now and are stronger than ever. They're worse than pretty much every band in this contest including Nickelback and Saliva, but they're back big time. We also saw comebacks from Brand New, Glassjaw and Thrice recently, to name good bands that came back in the emo revival.

The nu metal revival really kicked off at the beginning of the 2010's, when you had bands like Islander, Issues and Stray from the Path emerging with a nu metal sound mixed with metalcore. Meanwhile, bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit were coming back with reunions/band members rejoining from the old times.

Sadly, grunge revival is pretty much done with the death of Chris Cornell. Pearl Jam's new song sucks ass. Alice in Chains' new stuff is still solid though.

Sometime in the mid 2020's we're going to be lamenting the indie rock revival and even later in the 2030's when whatever the fuck you'd call Imagine Dragons comes back into fashion.

LV, go listen to Only in Amerika by Hed PE and laugh your ass off at it in the meantime.

I like Thrice. And Brand New has some decent stuff. I’ve never been into Brand New but my brother and a couple of my buddies like them.

As bad as people break nu metal bands balls, at least they knew how to play/used instruments unlike today's "bands"

Nobody uses instruments in their music anymore

Name a "band" that gets regular airplay.. and don't give me this, "well if you search the Internet hard enough.."

These guys were at least musicians.. not the most innovative, but whatever.. the artists now just hit a couple buttons on an iPad app

Everything that produces a sound can be an instrument. Guitars/drums/bass are overused and overrated.

I prefer guitar/drums/bass over whatever it is people are using today

That is why I think today's music is more embarrassing and is the worst period of music ever

It's the lack of creativity/originality that's a problem. There are too many simple chord progressions and personalities being reused and recycled.

Yeah I guess it's tough to come up with something new at this point.. still tho, I can't get into this iPad music age

At this point? I think it's probably your age and experience. If you were a kid just getting into music, everything would sound new and unique and if you were 40 when Pearl Jam came out you might have thought of them as boring and unoriginal.

What is he even talking about? As shitty as they may be, even Imagine Dragons play their own instruments, and aren't they one of the biggest bands in the world today? I'm confused here.

I get to hear a lot of top 40 (not by choice) and they're probably the closest thing to an actual band
