That’s a fair point.

That being said, you’ve never heard of them but the Australian pink floyd fill arenas and stadiums all over Europe and have played thousands more shows than pink floyd ever have.
So there has to be a point where the imitation is better than the original.

Ehh why? It’s nit at all. We’ve had four films in three years that’s are essentially fan fiction.
Lucas had nothing to do with any of their creation past some guidelines they borrowed from in Solo and TFA and TLJ

It’s happened already

I agree. For better or worse, the new movies are like official fan fiction.

Of course fan fiction can be better, even if it usually isn’t. Even The Beatles started as a cover band.

The term is used as a negative as it relates to Star Wars. I don’t mean it negatively.
Soon there will be more Star Wars than the OT. It won’t be fan fiction.

There always has been more Star Wars than the OT. There used to be a massive expanded universe. A lot of it official and unofficial fan fiction. Many parts and characters from it has later made it into canon, even if the works themselves went from being partly recognized, to not being a part of the new canon at all.

It’s very weird that George allowed writers to write and go wild and unchecked using his universe. They weren’t even proof read and nobody was put in charge of keeping it all on track to make sense. It makes sense Disney scrapped the whole thing. It ended up being a horrible mess with tons of books contradicting events in other books. Chewie being killed by a moon falling on him. I mean come on.
They’ve sued nurseries for having Disney characters painted on the walls. So they’re intense about their ip

Yes, the problem with it was not the good books and stories, but all the trash. Yet, it shows that really good stuff can come from fan related fiction.

but you think they are better? better band? Even if you like their take on a song...its a song from someone else. There is no way a cover band of Pink Floyd can be better than the original band.

I’ve seen daft punk and walked away after ten minutes bored. I’ve seen a daft punk tribute act and had an awesome night. No accounting for taste I guess

Pearl Jam have several covers that are better than the originals. That's not unusual.

Enjoying a concert is not necessarily the same thing. I saw a local Bruce Springsteen cover band, and had the time of my life. A friend of mine who is a musician, even played the harmonica on a few songs. All of us were singing along, drinking merrily, with none in a bad mood, or overly drunk. I will say the cover band must be one of the better ones around, because it sounded tight as well, high quality stuff.

A few months later I saw Bruce Springsteen play in the rain in front of 30.000 in a stadium without roof. The lines to take a piss were 50 meters, and the same for the beer. The band seemed to play without any pauses, just a constant stream of songs, and many not close to being their hits. A dream setlist for a diehard fan probably. I got bored and cold, and left after a little more than an hour.

Still, there is no doubt that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band is superior to the band I saw in the club.

It's a cool short movie though. I hope they continue making them, and that they are all worth seeing. Doesn't matter that it's a "cover" or fan made.

Hopefully it’s a book not a comic. But for now. Wow.
