This guy's hilarious.
He nailed this one. And ND.

Shades of Riot Act.
I loved his vocals on Riot Act, he sounds so weary. In the context of the times it was perfect. I think his abandonment of that style on avocado is the thing I struggle with the most on that album.

It was overt attempt to capture the "rawk" from their earlier albums. It worked for some songs, but others felt so forced and needed to be tuned down live.

yeah but at the same time, its different. He sounds defeated on RA. Here he sound ragged, beaten yet hopeful and optimistic. Its weird, but he did it....i would compare it with Release not in terms of the vocal per se, but the overall feeling.

I felt that Ed sounded like a 60 year old on Riot Act. He sounds much younger than he is on this album.

still adoring this, I don't understand the people cooling on it; I spent one or two listens adjusting to this version, then I was in love again -- but I do love all of its Riot Act bleak bitter sweetness

I just lost an aunt to Coronaviris. I think that experience is going to be pretty indelibly linked to this song

Honestly right now more worried that my uncle is okay. He is 80. A fairly healthy 80 to my knowledge, but a fairly healthy 80 is still 80. The tendrils are scary

Thank you - I didn't mean to highjack this thread. The next post better be about River Cross!
