Finished season 2 of White Lotus. Excellent. I'm not sure which season I preferred, but I definitely missed Armond.

This seems to be the universal sentiment. Makes me feel like a complete idiot weirdo.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

It shouldn’t. S1 was more straight satire. S2 was more of a mystery drama. They’re both great but have different strengths. And Armand and Zahn’s characters are the two best male roles yet, IMO.
Excellent point. Thank you. And I think at the end of the day, that's what it comes down to for me. I think I missed the satire from S1. While it's still there in S2, it's not as prominent because S2 is focusing on other things.

i know absolutely nothing about writing dialogue or casting or character development/arcs, so maybe there are elements of S1 that I missed entirely, aside from the obvious things stated here earlier. i think it was great, and Armand was great. I actually loved Zahn's son's story/arc the most.
i will say that i don't know that there's anyone who could pull off a believable Tanya better than Jennifer Coolidge. i thought S2 Tanya's story was better and executed better than S1.
In the final episode...
- Spoiler: show
- when Tanya is shooting her way off the yacht, she asks the "uncle" who's bleeding out, "Is Greg? having an affair?," has to be one of the best and funniest lines written for a character in a show full of broken humans. I'm still laughing just thinking about her saying that line.

Oh yeah, that's easily the best Tanya moment in S2. I just missed her for the majority of the season. Jennifer is fantastic throughout but the character just isn't the same in S2. I feel like she wasn't given as much to do. Obviously, the world disagrees with me so what do I know?
