It means he was luckily born into a good situation. As I asked before, if I were born into a tremendously unlucky situation and struggled my entire life, would that override my pale skin and cancel out my racism?

Thanks for the explanation. How about this: I'm born into a bad situation then pull myself up by my bootstraps and find success and happiness. Would I be racist then?
