I keep hoarding them for late game bosses knowing full well i'll never use them.

I usually end up using one or two on hard bosses and then eventually beating the boss without it

Rune Arc’s are clutch if you have great runes activated. It’s not enough to just kill the bosses, you have to activate them and they never tell you how. I’m up against Fire Giant right now and he’s a pain. May use them. Have a lot and they do really help a lot.
Ended up playing til 2 am last night so I guess I’m fully back in. Found the catacombs/basement of the Lleyndell Capital and finding catacombs is my favorite part. This one is super complicated.

it tells you how to activate the great runes in the secondary item description screen.. or at least tells you where you can activate them

I don’t recall it ever giving specifics, although I have found where to activate all the ones I have.

This is me with every consumable item in these games.

There’s a lot of stuff I just don’t use in this game. A lot of the grease doesn’t work for the weapons I use.

Yeah every once in a while I look through my crafting options and items on hand but I can't decide on anything.. sometimes I'll try some magic or fire grease and it doesn't seem to make much of a difference and it takes too long to apply it during a boss fight and runs out too fast anyway

That dude almost made me quit the game. You have to use that weapon they give you to fight him and don’t even try using anything else.

How does Elden Ring compare to the Dark Souls games in terms of accessibility, gameplay, difficulty, lore, etc.?

Called in some random to help me beat Fire Giant. I really have not used that enough.
Thank you “Man in Iron Mask”.

I don't know if i've played enough of the souls games to make a fair assessment, but to me it's been kind of on par. There is a steep learning curve on your first souls game but once you understand the mechanics they are all pretty similar. What makes Elden Ring a bit easier, is that there are no hard progress gates that will frustrate you. Like, if you can't get past a boss or area in Elden Ring you just come back later. In other games you either need to beat that boss or start farming and level up until you can. As far as lore and stuff goes, these games have a ton of it but it's always buried. You can play an entire game without really knowing what is going on. I rarely do

As far as lore goes, I recommend watching vaatividya videos on the internet website YouTube.com. Like this one. And I wouldn't really worry about spoilers or anything like that in this game, cause the story is so vague/convoluted anyway. Even after you watch this you still might not really know what's going on.

This is my first Souls game but I would say its very accessible because the open world aspect lets you pick and choose your battles.

Yes and you can easily level up via farming. The real challenge comes from choosing your exact build and sticking to those upgrades, because there are SO MANY choices.

Seems like Souls zealots are up in arms about the mage classes being "easy mode" for Elden Ring. Keep your distance, use summons, and just chip away at the boss with Pebble.
