I was into Shellac for a while. Listened to 1000 Hurts a lot in high school. Just kind of lost sight of them around that time

I wanted to do this, but I feel weird about it because of the way last.fm labels pieces by classical composers. So Satie and Chopin show up on my top 10, but what I actually listened to was a bunch of different musicians playing those pieces, often in very different ways. It would be like listing Switched On Bach under "Bach" and not "Wendy Carlos". Maybe I'll just leave out the composers altogether

The other problem is that these automated lists measure number of plays and not "time spent listening to the artist". I can listen to ten Ramones songs in the same time it takes me to get through the final track of Black Saint and the Sinner Lady. So I don't think that's the way to go here

I'm curious what the Spotify Wrapped feature at the end of the year is counting. I actually downloaded my Spotify data last year and played with it in Excel. I was able to calculate how many times I had played specific songs, specific artists, how many seconds I had played each. None of my calculations exactly matched with what Spotify Wrapped displayed. It was close, but not perfect. Maybe I was just wrong about what day they stop counting, I thought it was the end of October

I submitted my list. I am not changing it but I would probably make some modifications.
It was very highly influenced by all those catalogue journeys I have done the last couple of years.
