16 years wasn't nearly long enough. But he saw more of the world than most dogs.

If anything I have trouble staying in one place!
But it got hard to get out once my co-pilot got old and couldn't do it anymore. There is a boarding place here that specialized in senior dogs, but there is a long waiting list. I'd leave him at my mom's sometimes, but they go through dogs like Kleenex, so that was always a little nerve wracking.

My husky has a torn acl. It’s breaking my heart to watch her limp around.

Update…spike wrote:Oh boy we’re getting a pup.
They discovered an umbilical hernia at our pup’s six week check, so the breeder offered us a discount, walk away, or take the last pup in the litter not already spoken for instead. We did some research on the issue, doesn’t seem too problematic if it’s small.
We visited him last weekend, and learned the hernia is both small and isn’t congenital, but due to the mom biting off the umbilical cord too shortly (normally the breeder would handle the snip but she thought all the pups had come out- he was the straggler). This is good news, as less chance of the pup having other issues down the road.
Prior to the visit, my sister had put into my wife’s ear that we should adopt both. Once I heard this, I knew there was no turning back. Also, it can help with their separation anxiety and they can keep each other company instead of one bored dog whining and trashing things (we shall see, heh).
Anyway, I was powerless to say no to these little dudes, so we’ll bring them both home in a couple weeks. I’m going to regret this.

bogey had a umbilical hernia also. it didnt bother him one bit. there was a reddish "bubble" that you could press and he didnt even care. I got him for about 400 less than the others sold (he was the last of his litter)
when i got him fixed they fixed it and there were no complications at all

Good to know, peeps. After researching it, I’m not too worried about it either. The breeder knocked a thousand off the pup, and we’re getting the second one for half price.

Out of nowhere, the kid came up with the name Bence for the original pup, which is an actual Hungarian name that’s grown on us. Still thinking about what to name pup two (who currently goes by Shep).
