Someone mentioned "dignified" before - it fits too.

After just 1 listen I feel this might be the sincere and most genuine effort by the band on the record - I want it to be a live staple. I could even see it as a gig closer. It's nostaglically 80s, but in somewhat of a good way.

If ever a song evoked a soundscape (a field of lightly undulating shimmering wheat crowned with a sky of gold lunar splendour) it's this song. What an absolute pleasure.

And I normally HATE luvvy-style wankery like the above but gods-dammit this song has reduced me to a simpering wreck. Amazing. 5 stars? This has all the stars in the sky.

It almost makes me nostalgic for when I was a kid and used to go on family holidays to France. We used to have "Night Swimming" playing on the stereo while we swam in the pool in the middle of the night. I wish I could've tried that with this song

Agreed. And there is a night swimming elegiac quality to this, but this song feels more like a farewell.
