sounded sincere to me. he's not a writer, but it came from the heart. why must you pretend to know his intentions?
No one can know anything about these people. By nature of our engagement with their industry, we are forced to consume not just their core products -- movies and shows -- but also the marketing apparatus that asks us to care about the actors as people, to decide whether or not we like them unconditionally, or at least to the extent that we'll give them a recurring shot any time they're in a movie or show.

Adrian Brody doesn't pass the smell test for me. He was pretty good in The Darjeeling Limited. I've otherwise never seen him do a thing that moved me; and his public persona annoys me. This stupid speech is just one example of him acting like a doofus any time the camera is trained on him.

I bet he's an abysmal hang, and this is a perfectly healthy way to interact with movies and celebrity culture.
again, i don't care who he is as person, or how good "a hang" he is as long as he's not harming people in his free time. i just love the movie and his performance, and his speech was mostly thanking people who helped him achieve his performance.

In all fairness i will forget about Brody and his speech tomorrow, maybe even tonight.

Yesterday it gave what i needed it, a moment to roll my eyes to, a moment to scream at the screen and laugh about it, but it also went too fucking long even with that notion.

Still this is my ranking at most wtf moments

1-Brody going on and on, saying nothing and then trying to be all deep and serious

2-Zoe Saldaña rambling about her mom, her granny , her being "I am the first American of Dominican origin to accept an Academy Award¨ was so cringeworthy...and a funny moment after the guy who won as the first black guy who won i dont know what

3-The Emilia Perez girl who won something with the songs i think it was? and she kept talking and then fuuucking singing? jesus, just let Mick Jagger talk a bit more, he was awesome

Lot of people underrating his performance in Predators.

I don't even think it's a bad use of AI. In fact, this is probably the exact scenario where AI-based speech technology is good and useful. My only point is that it's not "industry standard" stuff, because it can't be, because this technology is too new. Maybe it'll become standard now, or maybe all the controversy around it will scare people off using it, who knows

I needed more from the I’m Still Here director. Disgusting that they played him off so soon.

Killing the best song performances is the final straw for me. It’s a great part of the night for the nominees and the audience. Win or lose they get to shine in their big night. It’s bizarre the show is still as long as ever and they cut that??

I just think all this fuss around this specific instance is so silly because of all the ways in which technology is actually hurting movies that people aren't fussing about. That was the point I was poorly trying to make.

And yet they still had time to sing a few James Bond songs for some reason.

I was very worried they were going to announce the new Bond with that musical.

To give full credit I’ve never once in my life found Conan funny. He’s about as funny as a terminal disease. But he did great last night. On point and snappy and not laboured. He does tend to labour and overwork his jokes.
The musical stuff though? Nah.

He’ll be back again safe to say.

See the song performances usually act as the main pissbreak for those in attendance.
Only logic I can think of is they replaced it with that?? It went on for how long?
Bizarre

They have done this before with John Williams medleys etc but he was being honoured in the night far as I member. This wasn’t even that. So strange.

Given what Bezos did with LOTR, I'd say it's definitely dead.

Performance enhancing drugs are illegal in sport. If it even only gives the cheater a 0.0001 second advantage leading to a win, it’s cheating and if caught the cheater stripped of the medal.
absolutely no difference to what happened here. He’s a prick and he’s stolen that Oscar.
