Problem is, there are three songs on the end of the album all vying for "minor song" status. Yellow Moon isn't one of them, but it's pretty much redeeming the final stretch all by itself, and that's a lot of responsibility for that kind of song (SBM is really good, but it's another "fun" song).

No small achievement that they managed to take a song as desolate and sorrowful as "Sleeping By Myself" and turn it into a fun, minor song.

My problem with LTRP is not that I think it completely sucks. It doesn't. But I still agree with every negative review I read of it. It could've been more, which is very frustrating.

i wonder if swapping swallowed whole and LTRP helps that, harmless. Not that swallowed whole is a major song, but it feels more substantive than LTRP. And LTRP is kind of a bold choice to follow pendulum

I don't generally retrack albums, but I could give it a go.

The fact that yellow moon was a last minute addition and had to be fought for to get on the album, but ltrp is on there comfortably blows my mind.

I wouldn't be surprised if Stone was hesitant. "uh, are you sure guys?"

Very much this. Yellow Moon had to be fought for. Brendan O'Brien wanted SBM and LTRP. However much I like SBM, I can't help but think the last half could've been awful with this new band dynamic they have.

I wonder if the fact that it was Stone's only solo contribution played a part in it getting on the album?

Yeah pretty amazing that most of them didn't want YM on the album. Also pretty amazing that they seemingly didn't even record a proper studio version of Of The Earth or give it any real consideration for this album.

Yet we get LTRP and Future Days...

I'm sure there's some of that involved. Plus, it moved Ed enough to write lyrics for it.

"crap, I really didn't think Ed would do anything with that."

SBM doesn't sound like a fun song or one written for the sake of enjoyment to me, at all. There's nothing minor about it. It's only being interpreted as such because of the fact that it was on an Ed solo album and then Brendan pushed for it and they made it sound nothing like anyone had imagined. It stands up as a full-fledged PJ album track just fine.

FD is another which is far from a minor track. It's not well-liked but that doesn't mean it's minor. It's the album closer and there's nothing to suggest the band just threw it on there at the end for no reason. Whether it works for you or not is another matter. FD has been widely appreciated by many reviewers who didn't even like the album overall. Maybe that's the audience it was targeted at.

LTRP is undoubtedly the fun and enjoyable one on this album. In the same way Big Wave and Supersonic were on those albums.

It is a fun rendition of a more melancholy song. The original contained far more sadness and melancholy.

I didn't say it wasn't a fully-fledged PJ song, though. I think it is, and a good one.

When you say minor you mean filler right? Its definitely filler. I enjoy big wave and supersonic way more than ltrp though, and I find mfs to be the most fun song on the album.
