It's probably my favorite acoustic-based song of theirs. Up there with "Strangest Tribe" and "Fatal". I find it very evocative and rich with colors and elegant playing. Definitely one of their most thoughtfully-crafted studio tracks.

And again, the great Jack Irons. What he does in this song is what I love about what he brought to Pearl Jam. Very expressive drumming.

Mike can't figure out the timing during the solo either.

Missoula 2012 is a good version, also Bridge benefit 01, the first time they did it live.

guys, i pointed out Lowlight's lyrics, not its music, which i find quite good (i always think of Pink Floyd's See Saw when i hear its outro). the lyrics drag it down several notches - they're worse than Pilate's in the context of their respective tone.

I love Low Light's lyrics. I can't really put a narrative to them but I feel like it would be unnecessary and maybe detrimental.

I never imagined I'd type this, or say it, but No Code might be my new favorite album :|
I hate to say I love you,
But oh goddamn I love you,

Just got back from running some errands. Listened to Backspacer followed by Yield on headphones.

I'd like to formally apologize to Yield for ever having ranked it behind Backspacer. Yield is fucking great. Just great. It feels like it wants to take Riot Act's place at #3 on my board.

The fact that you ever had Backspacer ranked ahead of Yield means you must be certifiably bat-shit crazy. I'm glad you finally took a whiff of the smelling salts and woke the fuck up.

It by this you mean his lead in lowlight, it's meant to be off and is intentional. There's an extra phrase in the guitars, 5 where there really only should be 4. So that off kilter timing he's just brought through to his part. I always thought.

I think that's just his way of compensating for the fact he can't handle the timing.

If there was an unintentional timing issue in the studio it'd be quickly/easily fixed though. That's why I think it's intentional.
