Are there any engineer/producers in the rap world who share a recording ethos with Albini?
Off the top of my head, I think about RZA or El-P because of how their productions tend to highlight rather than distract from or embellish the performances, but I also don't know many rap producers by their resumes to really narrow it down or draw distinctions.

Oh, also -- working deeper through the Albini "canon" that trag and others posted. That Owls record is grabbing me. Sort of like a more jangly indie version of Shellac with sparse instrumentation and the wild time signatures, but poppy voice and guitar lines.

lifestyle is one of my favorite albums of all time, i like all the other silkwormv albums I've listened to but not as much as it, honestly italian platinum is ptobably my second favorite
