I met a guy in Seattle that was a professional protester. They follow the protests around the country and sometimes escalate things. Apparently there are a lot of these protesters in Ferguson now.

i do enjoy how the progression of these cases flows

- incident
- public outrage over an innocent being shot
- parents and friends claim the victim wouldnt harm a fly
- "aggressors" side comes to light slowly
- video evidence or facebook evidence of "victim" not being quite as angelic as everyone wants you to believe
- protests escalate for no good reason
- truth comes out but "victims" friends and family refuse to believe it

but in this specific situation, the escalation was not headed-off/mitigated by the authorities.

Trayvon was handled better than this and look at the chokehold-murder in NYC. Obviously a very different situation, but handled very well by the authorities.

Peeps - Im getting a vibe from you in this thread that the kid kind of deserved it? im being serious here. Kind of worries/saddens me. What does it matter if the kid was a "gang banger" or wrote horrible rap songs? I think I wrote a rap song in 7th grade once.

i don't get that vibe. i think he's saying that the kid did actually charge the officer and got killed b/c of it. if that's true, then were brown armed, i'm sure he would have just opened fire and this would be a non-story. so maybe they should make it easier for people to get guns afterall so there wouldn't be all this grey area in these cases.

he's talking about the storyline from the media, not the case itself... so it's not evidence, strat.

I get rubbed the wrong way when both sides (whatever that means) turn the case to his character. As if that matters. That makes the conversation about what a man's life is worth. I know there are emotions involved and its just going to happen, but i think that is what is inherently wrong with it all to begin with. That conversation should'nt need to happen, but unfortunately, racial war is a very real thing i believe. I dont care if the guy was on crack, molested a kid, or was a church going saint. The fact is he was an unarmed man that was blatantly gunned down and killed by a police officer. Ultimately, I think that is what most protestors want justice for and what needs to happen but its not gonna get there as long as the conversation is about who Michael Brown was.

im not saying he deserved it by any means but i am more annoyed with everyone jumping to the conclusion cop=bad kid=innocent. the huge part of the blame goes to social media and people not being informed. its the same with the nutsos who are posting on FB about how pepsi didnt include the words under god on their cans. do a little research and wait to arrive at an opinion rather than hoping in the car with your nutso buddy who is driving aimlesly


what do we know about this case

- a young man was shot (at this point im not willing to say murder or in self defense)
- a police officer is automatically labeled a racist and child killer
- the ferguson police are about as in control and organized as mayberry when andy is on vacation
- so called black activists just like to stir the pot to keep their names in the forefront
- people will look for any excuse to riot and loot their own neighborhood then bitch and moan about how noone cares about their neighborhood. why should anyone care if you dont?
- we've gone from judging a case in a week or two in the paper to 14 seconds thanks to social media
- there are people that no matter the circumstance will automatically label a person for the bad

In addition to that, half the problem here is beyond the initial incident, and has to do with the way police perceive their place in and subsequent obligations to the community. There is a culture inside that profession that is rampant, disgusting, and destructive...and every now and then, you get a moment like this that clearly and openly reveals it.

Sounds like most neighborhood citizens are wanting peaceful protest but some bad apples show up in the evening to cause trouble. I wouldnt say "people will look for any excuse to riot". To me, that sounds like "bring it you fucking animals"
