Is this Bill Evans the sax player?

I saw a Bill Evans sit in with the Allman Brothers a few times.
this Bill was one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time..i was just giving you a hard time
Oh, I fully admit my ignorance. I have no idea how old the guy I saw was and didn't know if it could've been the same guy.
no worries, you should check him out..he died in 1980 by what some called the longest suicide in history

So much great stuff out there these days. Contemporary (or contemporary-ish) stuff I've been digging lately & not seen mentioned here recently:

The Bad Plus (duh)
Brad Mehldau (duh)
BADBADNOTGOOD
Zony Mash
GoGo Penguin (current favorite)
Robert Glasper
Yaron Herman Trio
Monophonics
1939 Ensemble
Polyrhythmics
Quantic
Makaya McCraven

Some of these may veer too far away from "Jazz" for some, but all worth a listen. Enjoy.

I can’t get into BADBADNOTGOOD as much as I’d like, but I’ll check out those others, haven’t heard of most. Contemporary jazz is very hit/miss for me.

More Wolfgang Muthspiel, from his new album on ECM, "Where the River Goes." Featuring Ambrose Akinmusire, Brad Mehldau, Larry Grenadier -- this lineup is basically the Wu-Tang Clan of modern jazz. A beautiful, atmospheric record.

Been listening to Preservation Hall stuff and other New Orleans jazz compilations lately in preparation for Mardi Gras season.

Let's never forget how much Silkk the Shocker owes to this track.

i don't like a large majority of it, to be honest. it can get hokey REAL fast. there are definitely certain artists i gravitate to though. i tend to either love the old, original solo artists .. or just blowing it out marching band style in a second line. and don't like a lot of the stuff in between unless i'm in the city.

a lot of it is like reggae to me ... i really dislike reggae outside of a sunny, ocean environment. but there, it just works for me. kind of the same for a lot of new orleans jazz.

Blue Mitchell's Step Lightly is the perfect Sunday afternoon album:

Also, for some reason I've been thinking about Miles' friendship with Bill Cosby lately (Bill was e.g. Miles' bestman when Miles married Cicely Tyson), and what Miles wrote in his autobiography. Besides writing how women deserve to be beaten every once in a while, Miles also wrote that between 1975 and 1980 when he didn't pick up his horn at all, and was addicted to pills and drank a lot, he also had sex with "all the women I could get into my house.". All that just gets a whole new meaning now after what we know about Cosby. I mean it might be a little far-fetched, but I wouldn't be suprised if Miles at least knew what Bill was doing.

I think it's pretty well known at this point that Miles was a dogshit human being. Bummer.

The Cosby stuff certainly adds another disgusting layer to it.
