Dudes, Immortality is a top ten for me, and its just PJ at its finest...again, blues meets Neil Young meets Fugazi....Ed delivery is wonderful i love when he sings in this registre
and the band tight as hell...Its Dave and Jeff's show. And Mike. And Stone.
What a classic.

Fantastic experience to blast Vs and Vitalogy so close to each other, they sound so different really. Vitalogy is the one album they didnt try to replicate in sound right? it totally feels like a capsule of its time, not maybe in sound so much, but in what Eddie was trying to do with the band.

The Immortality off Give Way is my evidence that Jack actually played it the best of them.

I've been making my way through the catalog for the first time in quite a while, and it's easy for me to forget how amazing this opening 5-song salvo is.
Last Exit
Spin the Black Circle
Not For You
Tremor Christ
Nothingman
Not only how good they are, but how well done they are. Those takes equal practically every live version of those songs I've heard.

My timeline is fuzzy on when the Vitalogy recording sessions were -- had all of those songs been road-tested before being recorded? I definitely think it is the last PJ album where all of the songs had been played live prior to the album release (minus the interludes and oddities of course).

That opening 6 is really strong, maybe only topped by No Code for me.
Also, Tremor Christ might be my favorite Pearl Jam song.

No Code and Yield had a few, but not many
Maybe only these:?
Red Mosquito
Habit
Lukin
Brain of J
Why wasn't Brain of J on No Code?

It's not just the takes, the way these are recorded and the production is perfection to me. I wish they had stuck with that style on the harder songs on No Code.
