This is a guy I always liked in theory more than I actually liked his music. It's strange, cause he makes stuff that is right up my alley.

do you think you are subconsciously allowing yourself to like him less to get back at me for what I've said about Yield?
Because I do.

No. It's because of what you're saying about Reflektor.

So you were anticipating what I would think about Reflektor?
The mind is really fascinating. There's so much we don't know about it.

I saw where that train was heading.
I think part of my issue with Lanegan is that I feel like on some of the stuff I've heard it sounds like he's skating by exclusively on the gravity of his voice. I never feel that with somebody like Tom Waits, who's probably the easiest comparison to make.
I really loved the song Cool Water off one of those Mark Langean and Isobel Campbell records, but then I found out it's not even him singing on the track.

well tom waits is certainly the better songwriter. Lanegan just barely edges him out in my personal hierarchy, but Waits is the far superior crafstman.
Lanegan collaborates with so many musicians I have no idea how much of a role he actually plays in the construction of the music. He can also definitely be hit or miss, especially depending on who is working with.
