This is not off to a great start. At least the Strain you know is going to be fairly corny, FTWD is trying too hard to be serious drama.

My wifes and I have given up. The characters are just boring and I just don't care for the story.

I watched the first episode of season 2 and gave up. Maybe if they have all the main characters die over the course of the season and replace them with people who are remotely likable I'll give it another shot.
