can we get back to planning the 'let stip induct them' campaign? I promise to reference red mosquito no fewer than 3 times in my speech

Though the precise song/message board ratio is to be determined.

Hey stip. this night three years ago I looked over my shoulder to see you flailing and giving the fixer your full throated and reckless support in Brooklyn.

Those were two good gigs.

this is the core issue

as un-music-ethos-y as an HOF itself already is; that they have gone a step further to create nerdy rules about who is and is not in the band is just even further off base from the musicyness way of life

the creators of this rule should be punched in their dicks

pearl jam could have ended after vitalogy was released, and pearl jam would still be an HOF candidate based on the oeuvre to that point; and pearl jam would still probably get in

and that was Dave A

and somehow the HOF have justified denying him that acknowledgement

fucking idiots

It can't be a "rule" as other bands haven't been treated similarly (eg. only certain members of The Cure or Nirvana being nominated while every man and his dog who was in RHCP made it in.)

It seems to be totally arbitrary on behalf of the HoF based on whatever vibe they're feeling at the time. In this case, it seems as though they're of the opinion that Pearl Jam are memorable for only two things: Ten (hence Krusen) and their longevity (hence MC).

It is totally arbitrary. When Lynyrd Skynyrd got in, only "classic" versions of the band got in. The only current member inducted was the only original member still in the band. However, not all the original members got in. The original bass player was fired from the band before their first album that was released was recorded. Thus, only the two "classic" versions of the band was inducted.

and that is total bullshit. the ten club's hand-blown glass cockrings were a disruptive innovation to the industry, as the Nexus One was to smartphones. the whole cockring production process is different now because of pearl jam's ten club. that tim bierrman is not included in this is just as outrageous as not including the man who has a stickman tattooed onto his arm and sat behind the drums during the band's most popular years

Stipe will induct Radiohead in a couple of years.
I read this as Stip will induct them and I was like, yeah, that works.
Yeah, "...due to his overwhelming and irrational love of Backspacer, stip will be inducting Pearl Jam into the HoF".
*stip walks to the podium, adjusts the microphone, glances down at his index cards...*

I'd like to talk to you tonight about a band with agency.

Assuming they get to play at least a 3-song set, what's your best guess?
almost definitely alive to close.
unless its one of those everyone on stage moments, in which case ritfw.

alive, betterman, and given to fly
i hope they aren't stupid enough to do gtf, eddie sounds awful on that one now. it'll probably be alive, betterman and lightnin bawhmm.
Yeah but it will be one of those moments where they haven't toured lately, and Ed's vocals will sound alright bc of it. Plus, he always turns it on for big time performances
when was the last time he turned it on for a big time performance?
I think Lightning Bolt on Fallon was pretty good - and MYM on Colbert.

If they only play three songs, here's my guess at the setlist:

1. Elderly Woman
2. Corduroy
3. Black
4. RITFW (with everyone, including Tupac hologram)

And I"m sure they'll be playing a HOF tour on the west coast since they didn't give us a PJ25 this year.

Nah, if Dave A's not there or isn't mentioned, I doubt they'll play anything from Vs or Vitalogy

Ok, if that's true, then here's my backup set list:

1. Crown of Thorns
2. Alive
3. NAiS or DTE
4. Ritfw (Again with everyone and Tupac Hologram back to back with Jeff)

Seems like a fifth song is warranted to get the feel of a pj set list...

Either Cornell or Neil does the speech, no doubt.

That is essentially two covers though. No way they do two covers on their own HoF induction.

OK, since you're ruling out Vs., Vitalogy and covers (other than RitFW)... the choices become Ten-heavy and uninteresting. Here are the other songs I think they can "sub in" to the setlist:

A) Release or Oceans
B) SOLAT
C) Pendulum / MYM
D) Hail, Hail
E) Black
F) YL

Here's my final setlist, what is your best guess?

1. NAIS
2. SOLAT
3. Alive
4. RitfW (Tupac Hologram)
