Pats are 7 point favorites vs. the Chiefs. God help the Chiefs.
The last time the Chiefs played the Pats opening week, Bernard Pollard shattered Tom Brady's knee.
God help Tom Brady.
Ha, good point, but...
Pollard doesn't play for the Chiefs and he injured various Pats during different tenures at other teams. It's more about the Pollard effect on the Pats I think.
I fully expect the Chiefs to lose that opening game. I'm not kidding myself. But I think they're good enough to keep it under 7. But you never know. I've seen the Chiefs beat the Pats so badly that they sat Tom Brady. I've also seen the Pats rip the Chiefs to pieces. It's at Gillette, so I imagine the Pats take the win.
Especially with this new offense they seem to be developing that requires 97 running backs.

If it's at the Chiefs it's a different story; I think that's where the Pats last got whipped and Brady sat. Every year, don't NFL players rate Arrowhead as the most challenging place to play on the road?

It's up there, yeah. It's so loud. And this current team has shown a tendency to get UP for prime time games. I totally agree with you: if it was at Arrowhead we wouldn't be looking at a 7 point spread.

I believed that was the game where Belichick repeated the "We're on to Cincinnati" line over and over...and then they pasted the Bengals as badly as the Chiefs pasted them.

I got Aaron Hernandez in my "keeper" league. I think this is going to be his year.

I think it's too early to say this with any certainty. Ingram is younger, more explosive, more versatile, and simply better at this point.

But look at what happened last year with Hightower. Payton doesn't seem to like Ingram all that much and has actively taken opportunities away from the guy.

True. That situation was confusing. Ingram actually looked really good last year when he was given the carries. Fumbles are a RBs worst nightmare, I get that, but you still need your best players on the field. I can't see how AP is anything more than a good to very good, 5-10 touches a game backup. He didn't even look all that impressive before his last injury.

Very good point. I'm curious to see how they use AP. Will he be mostly a goal-line or 3rd down or change of pace guy? Or will they hope he has one great season left in the tank and give him the opportunities? I tend to see things the same as you but I gave up trying to predict/understand Sean Payton a long time ago.

The only thing we know is that Brees will throw for another 5000 yards.

Signing old running backs with histories of knee injuries and fumbling issues always works out so well.
