This is great! I was a bit wary of Running being too much of a word salad punk rock style song, given its length. Happy to hear this clip showing they didn't ignore melody.

Because you are completely focused on half of the equation. If you let go of the need for production to sound the way you want it to, the fact that the band sounds incredibly fired up should be worth a lot.

Hard to tell much about the production from that very low quality clip

Or maybe that's just what it sounds like, lol

I care, it just doesn't ruin things for me; production is the package, ultimately it's the song and the performance that is the product for me

I will say this I do prefer this kind of punk / Bad Religion / Dead Boys to what Ed has been trying to do for the last 20 years.

would I prefer they'd kept on Gigaton Josh and made (so far) this same album? almost certainly; oh well, it feels like PJ primarily work with people they form a relationship with first and foremost, I don't remember (ever?) hearing them express a burning desire to work with a particular engineer because of their nuanced sound quality

part of me wonders whether I might like Supersonic more if it had these huge overdriven guitars; was that the problem all along? if you're gonna punk it's gotta be heavy enough

Judging a song's production based on a screen recording posted on twitter and then saying how production/sound quality is so important sounds a little funny, I gotta say. That said, we have Dark Matter as a reference and much of what the rockers/heaviers are gonna sound is probably there, as Watt makes very uniform records (sound-wise).

I'm very happy, the band sounds excited, the songs/snippets sound just as authentic as Gigaton/Avocado did and nothing sounds as bad as Avocado/BS/LB (I'd even include the lackluster sound of Riot Act, but that's another can of worms and not decided if it's production or songwriting)

I just think they showed up at Watt's place and played through his gear and this is the sound it produced. I like most of it so far. I can't stand the cheesy stuff from Brendan at the end with the laser sounds and stuff. If this is just mostly an arena-ready rock album then I will absolutely take it and I like what Jeff and Stone have said about it in interviews, so it's never going to be Yield or No Code or Riot Act again. It's always different for better or worse.

The best thing is I still don't think we have heard the 3 or 4 best songs on the record.

Someone please go outside and skywatch like the village shaman to retrieve additional clips so I can be lazy and remain indoors while benefitting from the efforts of others...appreciate it
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Yes. Heavier than they have been in a long time, and still somehow a different heavy. Those power chords are straight Vs.

Pearl Jam had only one perfectly produced album -- Yield.
