I just hope it isn't their last. I've a funny feeling it might be.

I think it might be their last as well, though I don't think it'll be intentional.

I can easily see the whole Pearl Jam machine slowing down to the point where they still exist, but it's just a few short tours every year and a handful of "event" type shows (a la Wrigley Field) and a few random releases here and there. I don't know that I ever see them officially calling it a day like REM did though. I think they view the Pearl Jam entity much different than REM viewed the REM entity. I could see Pearl Jam not really having a problem with essentially being in hibernation for several years at a time.

I think that's pretty much where the band is now.

Some album will be the last album. It'll just be interesting to see whether the band knows which one that is before, or after the fact.

That's when they'll do the follow up to Ten, it'll be loved on all fronts, and they'll very typically leave us gasping for more.

This will be the album which establishes a new phase in their sound. We've been waiting for another PJ 'era' we're excited to talk about. This album will begin it. But it'll probably be known as 'PJ's last stand'. Or something else equally definitive.

All speculation obviously... but i could see it as the last album of their current sound phase. then take a break, and come back with a more stripped down, low key sound

'Garage punk' 'pink floyd' does not in any way encourage me. Thank fuck that came from mike.

i don't think it'll be the last record, but I also didn't think that about Collapse into Now.

Frankly as long as a band gets along I don't see why they ever have to break up. Just don't make music again until you feel like it, if ever.

Agreed. I'd rather PJ not make an album instead of making an album for the sake of doing it

Nothing they've ever described as 'garage punk' sounded much like 'garage punk' to me.

They described 'Inside Job' as Pink Floyd-ish, didn't they?
