This NY/Joe Rogan thing had my wife and I arguing over the cultural relevance of Neil Young at breakfast this morning. She's younger than me and more in tune to the culture than I am. Turns out Neil Young isn't nearly as relevant as I had guessed. Who knew.

yeah, of course Spotify was going to pick Rogan. Neil is being so fucking stubborn about it...well, its Neil of course. I would have loved for him to go to Rogan and talk about instead of making this decision. But whataver.
If they are going to take out his music from Spotify, it seems ill have to taste Tidal...fuck.

Neil Young cutting off his nose to spite his face. Couldn’t he do what he normally does? Quick write an anti-Joe Rogan album and get vaxxed? I mean, he’s got an electric car album and a weapons of mass destruction album…
Now he’s just costing himself money and making my Pearl Jam journey take more effort since I gotta actually break out that CD.

Even if we take away the royalties and streams, the exposure itself is also hurt by this. Those lost 15 year olds that learn about rock music discovering Led Zeppelin, and the Beatles for real, and such. I mean, maybe I am making it up because I am pissed that Neil pulled his music from the platform I use, but I agree with the post above that it makes more sense for Neil Young to talk about it in Rogan’s show, write a song, do something proactive rather than take his toys and go home.
