I just cannot abide anyone criticising Habit when songs like Supersonic exist.

Supersonic being a worse song doesn't suddenly make Habit great though. Aside from subject matter & production, they're similar songs.

But as I've said before: I don't see the point in arguing with people - some things will click for some, and not for others.

I want this to leak, so I can read peoples' reaction.

They're not similar in any way other than both being fast. Habit is a behemoth blast full of minor, angry chords and Supersonic is... well, not.

I wasn't trying to compare them, just using another excuse to bash Supersonic. Habit is awesome for every reason under the sun.

So many thumbs.

And all of them fully erect.

I think both are just powerchords throughout but Habit is just 10 times more aggressive in the way it's played and in the guitar tones.

So a summary of the differences between Gimme Shelter and Mr. Jones would be "Well, they're both mostly chords, but Gimme Shelter is darker sounding and the guitar tones aren't as clean."

Really? Interesting. I keep mistaking major chords for minor chords because they sound so angry. But I think that depends on the chord sequence, no? PJ were always great at combining major chords so that in context, they sound less happy. They used to do this so well, and I feel as if they're doing it well again on "Getaway". I'm not sure Getaway is full of minor chords but it sounds like it is.

I just wanted to say that there are no minor chords causing the angry sound.

I've never understood the hate for Supersonic.

I used to love The Ramones and to me this is an ode to them. It's fun, it's lively, it's got a cool breakdown and it's not trying to be something it's not.

I prefer it to Habit. I prefer it to Let the Records Play. I have been known to put it on multi band playlists as the ONLY PJ song.

Can you even get minor power chords? Minors aren't angry, they're sad.

It's not bad as an ode to the Ramones, but even the Ramones write better lyrics than that, and that's saying something considering the simplicity of their songs. "I wanna be sedated" is so much more memorable and witty than whatever Ed comes out with in the SS chorus.

Minors aren't angry, they're sad? Um... that surely depends on the song. Angry / sad / depressing. They're negative as opposed to positive, that's my point. I don't think we need to argue about the emotions they provoke.
