Willy´s Wonderland.

Such a blast. Yeah, its a very low budget movie, super self aware of its limits and its main focus. But Cage lifts every scene he is in. He doesnt talk in the whole movie, and do so fucking much. His scene dancing while playing with a Pin Ball is already a classic.

Judas and the Black Messiah.

Really compelling, Stanfield and Plemons were great. Kaluuya was good but his character was a little one-dimensional for my tastes, even as an avowed Fred Hampton fan.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Hadn't heard of it until this post but I just watched the trailer and Jesus Christ. It gave off strong Night at the Roxbury vibes which is just... not something we need more of imo.

In Fabric.

Felt like a Quentin Dupieux movie but without his cleverness or comedy. Not good.

Saw Manhattan for the first time in years. Think Allen had some truly brilliant years making movies in the 70s and 80s. Annie Hall is probably his peak. The story here feels a little more odd, but then again, he makes New York shine in black and white.

Annie Hall holds up but I don't know if I could look past the sex pest aspect of Manhattan. It's been a few years since I've seen it but I remember being taken out of the movie by how nonchalantly it was presented, and I think the further I get from being 17 myself the worse it feels. I'm not even a cancel Woody Allen guy necessarily, I still enjoy Annie Hall, but this one is hard to appreciate.

It was weird that she was 17. I think it was important for the story that she was almost absurdly young, but a 19-20 year old would have been more than young enough.

Woody Allen did marry Soon-Yi Previn, and no doubt that was controversial with the circumstances, with him having had a long relationship with her mother. However, I understand they didn’t know each other well until she was about 20. She’s now 50 with a master’s degree, and they are still together. As far as the terrible accusations of kids abuse against Dylan, I have a hard time believing it. It’s a very difficult topic, as it usually feels wrong not to support an alleged victim of something like that. Nevertheless, these are very special circumstances.

Good article about it from a trustworthy source:https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/m ... t-fighting

I’ll keep on watching Allen movies. Saw Radio Days a few days ago, excellent movie. Have a few more I look forward to seeing.
